Founded by Everest conqueror Marcus Tobía, this sanctuary at 3,550 meters above sea level serves as both a high-alpine refuge and a training center dedicated to the motto “school for life.”
The site offers an authentic alpine refuge experience for hikers exploring the Sierra de la Culata, providing a rustic basecamp for expeditions to Pico Piedras Blancas or Pico El Águila. It is a hub for sustainable tourism, emphasizing environmental ethics and the preservation of the unique frailejón ecosystem surrounding the property.
Their flagship summer camps for youth ages 10 to 17 focus on character building through rock climbing, mountain biking, and orienteering. These programs are designed to foster leadership and resilience, using the rugged Andean terrain to teach life skills beyond traditional mountaineering techniques.
